'He's in great form and working well' - who expects to be in Group 3 money?

Thursday: 7.20 Leopardstown
Bahrain Turf Club Desmond Stakes (Group 3) | 1m | 3yo+ | RTV

This Group 3 prize has been won by three-year-olds in five of the last six runnings, and ready Meld Stakes winner Boundless Ocean could be the one to strike a blow for the Classic generation this time.

Even factoring in a 3lb penalty for winning at this level here last time, the Jim Bolger-trained colt appears nicely treated by the race conditions.

His mark of 110 is the highest on offer in this seven-runner affair, rated 3lb superior to Irish Lincoln winner Raadobarg, who must concede 4lb to Boundless Ocean.

Dropping back to 1m1f played to the top-rated contender's strengths when last seen, having previously been tried over 1m4f twice when second in the King George V Cup and sixth in the Irish Derby.

Now making his first start for Sheikh Abdululelah Abdulaziz A Almousa, he should have the pace to be effective at a mile but might ultimately prove best over 1m2f.

Raadobarg came home well when fourth to Boundless Ocean's stablemate Wexford Native last time in the Celebration Stakes at the Curragh, but softer ground would probably be a help to his chances.

Ger Lyons is doubly represented and Colin Keane remains loyal to Juncture, a ready Listed winner at Dundalk, who finished second in a premier fillies' handicap off 98 when last appearing in May.

Gary Carroll maintains his partnership with stablemate Marbling, who won the Group 3 Brownstown Stakes last month but needs to step up in better company.

Charterhouse took full advantage of a drop into handicap company last time at Killarney and has more on his plate now but is in a good place, while Voice Of Angels can be forgiven for her latest effort when having no luck in running.

What they say

John Murphy, trainer of Charterhouse
He's in great form and we're hoping he'll go on the ground. He's working well and has run well at Leopardstown before. On ratings, you'd be hoping he'd be on the premises. He's got some decent form.

Johnny Murtagh, trainer of Raadobarg
I'll walk the track beforehand and if it's similar to the last couple of meetings at Leopardstown he'll probably run, but if there's firm in it he probably won't. He's a nice horse and we've just been waiting on an ease in the ground.

Barry Mahon, Ireland and European racing manager for Juddmonte, owners of Juncture
She ran a great race last time and we've given her a nice break since. She was on the go early this year when winning in Listed company at Dundalk and we might have just got on top of her after the Guineas run, but Ger is happy that she's really well. Her second in the Silver Flash last season was very good and we probably got a bit carried away trying her in the 1,000 Guineas, but she's always shown a lot of potential at home.

Joseph O'Brien, trainer of Voice Of Angels
She's in good shape at home. She was a bit unlucky to get interfered with last time at Galway. The mile here will suit her well and we're hoping she can get some further black type.
