'He's 30lb better than Epatante' - our experts give their big-race views

It's Coral Gold Cup day at Newbury. Who wins the big one (3.05)?

James Burn, Lambourn correspondent Lostintranslation is interesting and would be a fairytale winner, but I remember talking to Dan Skelton at Chepstow last month about Protektorat and his Betfair Chase chance. We all know how that turned out, and the conversation included some favourable long-term words about Le Milos and this race, which, along with the National, "are the two handicaps you want to win all season", according to the trainer.

Owen Goulding, tipster There are some fascinating types in this year's race and, at a big price, it could be worth chancing Fanion D'Estruval. His record after 50-day breaks reads 1242 and he was a stronger stayer over 2m5f to cap off last season. Lucy Turner's 5lb claim brings him down to a manageable weight and he is a potential improver at the furthest trip he has faced in his career.

Harriet Graham, trainer I'm going for Corach Rambler. He will appreciate the strong gallop and the 3m2f trip will suit, as he showed when winning the Ultima at the Cheltenham Festival last season. He was well beaten over an inadequate trip at Carlisle on his comeback, but that was a warm-up for this race.
