Can blinkers spark a revival for Group 1 winner Ebro River in Listed sprint?
Sunday: 2.55 Chester
Freddie Wilson Queensferry Stakes (Listed) | 6f | 3yo+ | Sky
Group 1 winner Ebro River heads the three-year-old brigade and wears blinkers for the first time after failing to hit the heights of last year in three runs this season.
"We haven't been getting the results we've wanted and I think he might need to concentrate a little bit better," said trainer Hugo Palmer. "He's got a good draw [in two] and it's the first time we've been able to run him on the good to soft ground that he wants.
"I debated coming back to five as he's got bags of speed, but the turning track should suit him and I'm hoping he can get his career back on track."
What they say
Adam Ryan, assistant to Kevin Ryan, trainer of Bielsa
It's the right race at the right time of year for him. He had other entries, including in the Stewards' Cup, but he enjoys a bit of juice in the ground, which is why we're going for this race. He ran well in the Chipchase last time and is in good order. If he handles the track, he should have a good chance.
Sean Woods, trainer of Princess Shabnam
She's run three very good races round a bend and was a shade unlucky here last time from a high draw. It's a tough race but she ran at Group level last year and although she came up short, she's a different filly this year.
