'He just loves heavy ground' - trainer Kim Bailey joins our expert panel
Who is your idea of the winner of the Clarence House?
Kim Bailey, trainer Maybe the ground won’t be as bad as some think and, however much I would love to say my runner First Flow, it has to be the Champion Chase winner Politologue. He’s the standout horse in the race as Defi Du Seuil has a great deal to prove after his last two races.
Richard Birch, Racing Post tipster Paul Nicholls never ceases to amaze me with the number of older chasers he improves. Politologue’s last two runs have been the best of his career and this slick-jumping ten-year-old will be hard to peg back around a course he loves and on ground that suits. Waiting Patiently, probably more effective over further, is nonetheless preferred to Defi Du Seuil for second.
Adam Killeen, Betfair Waiting Patiently is a fascinating runner in this race but he last ran in the King George and dropping from three miles to two is surely a negative, so it would be disappointing if Politologue couldn’t notch another Grade 1 success.
