Harrington hoping Jett can fly to another success over course and distance
2.45 Thurles
Pierce Molony Memorial Novice Chase | Listed | 2m2f | 5yo+ | ATR
Jessica Harrington is hoping Jett can strike again at Thurles, where the seven-year-old has achieved both of his wins over fences.
Those victories were over Saturday's trip and Harrington said: "We know Jett loves Thurles. He's in super form and, while he would prefer less testing ground, he has won there on soft.
"This will be a step up in class for him but we're very happy with him."
Tombstone, who is two from six over fences, represents Gordon Elliott in the five-runner field for the €30,000 feature.
The trainer said: "Tombstone has two ways of running and hopefully this will be one of his better days. He's in good order."
Pat Fahy runs Castlegrace Paddy, who won on his chasing debut at Fairyhouse in December.
"He had a hold-up after his win but seems to be very well in himself now," said Fahy. "The concern is that he just might be a bit short of work."
Cadmium, a winner at Fairyhouse on his second start over fences, and Montalbano, who won at Gowran Park in January after falling on his two previous starts, represent Willie Mullins.
While the Listed chase is the undoubted highlight, racegoers who stay the trip will witness a slice of history in the concluding bumper when 16-year-old Pat Taaffe has his first ride under rules.
He is the son of trainer Tom Taaffe and grandson of Pat Taaffe, who enjoyed great success as a jockey, most notably with the legendary Arkle.
The teenager, a secondary school student who has plenty of riding experience, partners State Of Cognac, trained by his father.
Tom Taaffe said on Friday: "Pat has done a lot of pony racing and has won a Dingle Derby. He's all set for tomorrow and hopefully all will go well."
