It’s just over nine months since Donnacha O’Brien rode the last of his seven Group 1 winners in Britain as a jockey on Magical in the Qipco Champion Stakes, and the former rider has an outstanding chance of landing his first as a trainer with French Oaks scorer Fancy Blue.

Judged on Racing Post Ratings, Fancy Blue has 7lb to find with Nazeef and Magic Wand if all three run to the same level as they did last time. But it's not hard to find reasons why Fancy Blue might be capable of making the improvement required.

The daughter of Deep Impact has already achieved more than the majority of this field despite having run only four times. She is the most unexposed runner in the line up and has improved with every performance, culminating in a 5lb jump when winning at Chantilly last time.
