Going updates and market movers for the final Saturday of 2017

After weather disruption brought about the loss of the Welsh National meeting at Chepstow earlier this week and ensured there was no jumps action in Britain on Friday, normal service should be resumed on Saturday.

Leopardstown has provided some unmissable drama since Boxing Day but with no racing in Ireland, fixtures at Newbury, Haydock, Taunton and on the all-weather at Lingfield fill the schedule.

The feature race is the Grade 1 Betfred Challow Hurdle at Newbury, a race whose former winners include Barters Hill, Taquin Du Seuil and Reve De Sivola.

Heavy (GoingStick Chase: 3.8; Hurdle 4.2 on Saturday at 6.30am). Hurdles and chases share a single bend at both ends of the course. The bend after the winning post is moved out by nine yards. The bend out of the back straight is moved out by eight yards. Race distances are increased as follows: Races 1 and 2: add 79 yards; Races 3 and 7: add 53 yards; Race 4: add 107 yards; Race 5: add 107 yards; Race 6: add 79 yards.

Newbury - 12.05

Heavy (GoingStick Chase 4.2; Hurdle 4.0 on Saturday at 7am). Rails have been set and distances affected as follow: Races 1 and 2: add 53 yards; Race 3: add 45 yards; Races 4 and 6: add 67 yards; Races 5 and 7: add 79 yards.

Taunton - 12.15

Soft (GoingStick 4.4 on Saturday at 6.30am). Divided Bends. Bend out of the home straight, chase 8 yards from the baseline, hurdles 17 yards from the baseline. Bend into home straight, chase at the baseline, hurdle 22 yards out from the baseline. Distances: Races 1, 2, 4, 6 and 7: add approximately 123 yards; Race 3: add approximately 48 yards; Race 5: add approximately 24 yards.
