Funk bidding to stay on song in Listed event

Psychedelic Funk, who scored by four lengths when tackling a mile for the first time at Naas last month, heads the cast for this Listed event.

The Ger Lyons-trained three-year-old, who showed smart form last season when he was placed in the Coventry Stakes, will be bidding for a fourth win.

Colin Keane's mount faces ten rivals and will come from stall one. The last four winners of the race have been drawn either one or two.

Ray of light for Weld

Dermot Weld's most recent winner of the Ruby Stakes was Brooch in 2014 and he is represented by her half-sister Raymonda, a winner last season who has failed to add to her tally in four attempts this year.

Weld's team has been returning to form - he has sent out nine winners in the past three weeks - and he said of the Khalid Abdullah-owned four-year-old: "Raymonda is very well - I'm very happy with her. However, soft ground isn't ideal so we definitely don't want any more rain. It was too soft for her when she ran at Galway last time."

O'Brien looks to pocket another prize

Aidan O'Brien, who sent out five consecutive winners of the race between 2008 and 2012, is represented by Pocketfullofdreams, who belatedly came good when winning a maiden over this trip at Naas in June at her eighth attempt.

Highly tried on two of her three subsequent attempts, she finished fifth behind stablemate Alluringly in a Listed event at Gowran Park last time and O'Brien said: "We know Pocketfullofdreams handles soft ground well and she's taking her racing well, so we're hoping for a good run and that she might earn some more black type."

Last year's winning duo bid for repeat

Willie McCreery and Billy Lee combined to win last year's running with Erysimum and the pair are represented this time by Bumbasina, who won over course and distance in May.

McCreery said: "Both her wins have been on easy ground so we know soft conditions won't be a problem. We also know she handles the track and stall six is quite a good draw. She's in good form and we're hoping she might get some black type."
