Frosts out to make more headlines as proud dad Jimmy watches on
It is fair to say Jimmy Frost is pretty proud of what his children are up to on Saturday.
"It's amazing for two little kids from the edge of Dartmoor," he said when anticipating the pair's assignments, which are thousands of miles apart.
Frost's daughter Bryony is bidding to end a fairytale season with success on Present Man in the bet365 Gold Cup at Sandown, while around five hours later her brother Hadden will try to go one better than last year on Drift Society in the historic Maryland Hunt Cup at Worthington Valley, near Baltimore.
"It would be amazing if they both won," said former rider Frost snr, who can still just about claim bragging rights over his children as a Grand National and Breeders' Cup Chase (twice on Morley Street) winner.
His son is biding to go one better in a rematch with Derwins Prospector, having finished second on Drift Society in the Maryland race last year, when they were the only two finishers in a field of ten who set out in the timber race.
The trainer, who is expecting to be saddling a couple of his young pointers at Trebudannon near Newquay, added: "Hadden shared the season's jump jockey title out there last year and has gone back again for six weeks. He's been out there a couple of weeks with Drift Society's trainer Jack Fisher, and his mum will be making sure we can watch on the internet."
Frost described daughter Bryony's season as "unimaginable", remembering how they discussed whether she should turn conditional after her amateur success last season culminating in the Foxhunter at Cheltenham.
"She deserves everything she has achieved as she works so hard at it and has such great backing," added Frost, who was filled in by his daughter between lots on Friday morning about her time at the BT Sports Industry Awards the night before, when she rubbed shoulders with the likes of Sir Mo Farah and Sir Ben Ainslie.
