Frankel colt out to extend unbeaten record
Just four of the 13 Frankel offspring to have seen the racecourse this season remain unbeaten like their great father and today, at the course where the wondersire landed a pair of bloodless Sussex Stakes victories, one of those four bids to enhance his record to two from two.
Step forward the John Gosden-trained Seven Heavens who, like Frankel, races in the green, pink and white of Khalid Abdullah. Like Frankel he was a narrow but impressive winner of a maiden that has already worked out quite well – in Seven Heavens' case at Ascot –and like Frankel he has scared off most of the opposition, with just two – Mark Johnston's Shabeeh and Stan Moore's Sheila's Fancy – taking him on for his second start in a conditions race.
Teddy Grimthorpe, racing manager to Abdullah, said: "Since winning at Ascot the form has worked out pretty well and he's a May 21 foal so John gave him a bit of time to grow and mature a bit more and he's come back, he worked nicely on Saturday and he looks in good shape for this."
