As the Paralympics get under way in Rio, racing can celebrate its own story of sporting success achieved in the face of physical adversity.

Pharoh Jake has been a successful sprint handicapper for the last few seasons, so tough and resilient that he will be making his 100th appearance at the age of just eight when he lines up for the closing 6f contest at Epsom on Thursday.

He has won 11 races and been placed a further 29 times in a career that has gone better than could have been imagined in his early days.
