Seamour bids for an overdue first win of the year and one that even those connected with his opponents might struggle to begrudge.
In the Northumberland Plate Brian Ellison’s classy but quirky five-year-old looked so sure to prevail that he touched Betfair’s minimum in-running odds of 1.01 before he was nailed on the line by Antiquarium.

It was a similar story in the Mallard Handicap at Doncaster last time when George Baker, who is widely acknowledged as a master of the waiting race, was on board for the first time. Seamour hit the front approaching the furlong marker, only to be collared near the finish by Wall Of Fire. This time, though, he traded no lower than 1.25, or 1-4, as punters were understandably more wary.
