Enable narrowly ahead on figures but reality is they are oceans apart
Enable holds a narrow but definite advantage over Crystal Ocean heading into the King George, with the fillies and mares' allowance tipping the balance in favour of the superstar mare.
Crystal Ocean boasts a peak Racing Post Rating of 128, arrives better than ever and is, quite possibly, still improving judged on a career-best performance to win the Prince of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot last month. But the concession of 3lb to Enable, who has a best RPR of 126 in the past year, looks a tall order, especially after her ready win on reappearance over a trip short of her best in the Eclipse.
If that Sandown success really does signal a return to her three-year-old peak of 129 from her 2017 Arc romp, then Crystal Ocean's task becomes even more daunting, while the 128 she recorded in winning the King George earlier that year would also likely prove insurmountable.
