Ed Chamberlin, David Redvers and Graeme Rodway join the Saturday jury
What’s your view on an open-looking Champion Stakes?
Ed Chamberlin, ITV Racing presenter I think it’s fair to say this isn’t a vintage running. At the top of the market, Magical is rock-solid. What a season she’s having – this is her ninth run of the year and she’s run in a Group 1 every month since May. She’s seriously tough and difficult to oppose, but Addeybb is absolutely mustard on this ground and I think he’ll go well.
Keith Melrose, betting editor Much as I admire Magical, I just could not back her 13 days on from gutting herself in the Arc. Deirdre is a crazy price. You can forgive her run at Royal Ascot, her first in Britain, and since then she’s looked a proper Group 1 mare. She’d definitely have been no worse than second in the Irish Champion with a clear run and a stiffer finish here should suit. I just hope they go fast enough early on.
Graeme Rodway, Racing Post tipster If Magical is at the top of her game at the end of a long season she should win. Her placed efforts behind Crystal Ocean and Enable are strong in the context of this race and the Irish Champion Stakes winner did well to finish fifth in the Arc last time after racing up with the fast pace.
