Downpatrick Live: Gavin Cromwell runner backed for Ulster National success
Downpatrick keeps the show on the road today with the Randox Ulster National Handicap Chase the highlight of a seven-race card that starts at 1.40pm.
Willie Mullins saddles the favourite Ifyoucatchmenow but Gavin Cromwell has enjoyed a fine season to date and his Jimmil has been backed into 11-2 (from 7s) to land the €50,000 marathon test (3.10).
The six-year-old has risen a stone in the weights after an easy win over 3m at Navan last time, but remains lightly-raced under rules for the County Meath-based trainer.
Gordon Elliott's Cheb De Kerviniou, who found only Cap York too good at Naas last time out, has also been well supported at 5-1. Rachael Blackmore takes the ride on the Simon Munir and Isaac Souede-owned ten-year-old.
Elsewhere on the card, Accidental Rebel has been backed into 8-1 (from 9-1) for the Racing TV Handicap Hurdle (2.40). He has yet to break his maiden but was a half-length second on his penultimate start in a 25-runner novice handicap hurdle.
The current going is soft, with a dry forecast ahead of the afternoon's racing.
There are four non-runners: Ringhill Lady (1.40), Road To Dubai (2.10), Oldtown Annie and Yousayitbest (4.40).
