Dolphin out to make a splash on second all-weather start

Cambridgeshire winner Dolphin Vista has had a new career over hurdles put on hold to take in the last domestic Listed contest of the year in which he faces eight rivals, including recent course-and-distance winner Master The World.

Martyn Meade is to take leave of Newmarket in the new year but has some unfinished business with the four-year-old, who was having only his second start out of Sefton Lodge when springing a 50-1 surprise on the Rowley Mile.

Meade said: "Dolphin Vista has schooled nicely over hurdles already but this opportunity on the Flat came along and, as he works well on the all-weather at home, it makes sense to have a crack at this first. He's a relatively fresh horse compared to some of the others in the race as he's run only three times this year."

Most of the form lines in the race surround last month's Listed Churchill Stakes at the track in which Master The World had Saturday's opponents Mia Tesoro (third), Petite Jack (fourth) and Battalion (sixth) in arrears.

Master The World picks up a 3lb penalty this time around, something that could open the door for a turnaround according to Charlie Fellowes, trainer of Mia Tesoro. He said: "If she runs to that form again she should go close given the difference in weights and she has a good draw. It's not the strongest Listed race in the world so we're hopeful."

Newmarket is also represented by Red Label, trained by Marco Botti, who will find a trip down to Lingfield a breeze after some of his recent exploits.

Botti said: "We got him from Ireland and he was supposed to go on to race in Hong Kong but his rating wasn't high enough. After that we send him to Italy where he finished third in a Group 3 but when he went back there for the Group 2 Premio Roma he was stuck there for three weeks as the racing was delayed. Providing that trip has not left its mark, he should run well."
