Several bookmakers have trimmed Delta Work to 6-4 this morning for the Ladbrokes Champion Chase at Down Royal (2.25), with chief market rival Clan Des Obeaux widely available at 2-1 for the first Grade 1 of the jumps season.

The Lisburn venue took seven millimetres of rain overnight and the ground is now soft, heavy in places on the hurdles track, while on the chase track it is soft, soft to heavy in places.

One of three runners for Gigginstown House Stud, Delta Work will be making his first start in open company over fences, having rounded off his novice campaign with a 12-length defeat of Discorama at Punchestown at the end of April.

ITV4 cameras are at Wetherby and Ascot as well as for the big race at Down Royal and there are several notable non-runners across those cards.

At Ascot both Whisper and Walk In Mill have come out of the Sodexo Gold Cup (3.20), while Song For Someone (2.45) and The Last Day (2.10) also miss out.

Wetherby hosts the bet365 Charlie Hall Chase (3.40), the climax of nine races on ITV4, with La Bague Au Roi heading a field of seven.

Veteran staying hurdler Unowhatimeanharry is easy to back at a best priced 7-2 in the bet365 Hurdle (3.05), with Ballyandy and The Worlds End proving popular in opposition.
