Thrills and potentially spills could be in store for the dozen amateurs who will take part in the sixth running of the Magnolia Cup before racing at Goodwood today.

The event, which has raised more than £1 million for charity, has attracted two of the most powerful women in Britain as participants in the female-only contest over five and a half furlongs.

Dido Harding, CEO of Talk Talk who as an amateur won hunter chases on Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Cool Dawn, contests the race for the fifth time, while among those making their debut is Charlotte Hogg, chief operating officer of the Bank Of England.
