They couldn't quite get the job done in these colours at Royal Ascot, but Sir Michael Stoute and Danny Tudhope will have high hopes of going one place better.
The season's leading jockey came within a head of landing the Diamond Jubilee Stakes on Saeed Suhail's Dream Of Dreams last month and has a fine record for the former champion trainer, riding nine winners from just 24 mounts for Stoute in Britain.
This is his first chance on Khafoo Shememi, who is already proven at this level and won twice in Listed company at Sandown in 2017.
The five-year-old failed to add to that tally last year, when he was sidelined from May and subsequently left Richard Hannon.
He was gelded before reappearing at Windsor last month and his third place behind Matterhorn encouraged hopes of a better season.
"We thought the track would be a bit sharp for him at Windsor, and it was, but he still looked like winning until getting tired inside the final furlong," said Bruce Raymond, Suhail's racing manager.
"He is working and moving exceptionally well, so we are very hopeful."
Di Fede also proved herself in this class when an impressive Listed winner at Ascot last autumn and finished fifth in the Group 2 Duke of Cambridge Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Key statistic Ralph Beckett has won with ten of his 21 runners at Pontefract in the last five seasons
She was third back in this grade at Deauville last time and trainer Ralph Beckett said: "This is the right slot for her. I think Pontefract will suit her as well.
"She handles all types of ground, so whatever the weather throws at us won't matter. She's run well the last twice and I'm looking forward to running her."
All 11 three-year-olds to have run in this race in the last decade have been beaten, with only two even reaching a place.
But the Mark Johnston-trained Group 3 juvenile winner Marie's Diamond comes here in winning form having landed a conditions event at Haydock last week.
