Robert Cowell knows what it takes to land the Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes but fears the weather could scupper his latest bid for the five-furlong championship event.

He won this with Jwala in 2013 and has also had Prohibit and Spirit Quartz go close in the last five years but is worried that rain on the Knavesmire will prevent Goldream from improving on last year's fifth place behind Mecca's Angel.

"Goldream wants fast ground and will run provided the ground stays fast," the trainer said. "Last year the ground was on the easy side; he ran well enough but he seems to spin his wheels a little bit on easier ground."
