Consistently brilliant: when it comes to Ascot in July Enable is like clockwork
Dave Edwards, the Racing Post's Topspeed expert, on the mare's phenomenal record
One striking aspect of Enable's formidable timeline is her admirable consistency. Since bursting on to the scene in the Oaks at Epsom in 2017 John Gosden's golden girl has earned her six highest Topspeed figures over a mile and a half. Her optimum ratings are 115, 115, 114, 116, 117 and 115, proving conclusively that she has the ability to quicken off a fast pace.
Many horses can produce explosive finishing bursts off a sedate gallop, but the ability to do so off searching fractions is the hallmark of class, a quality she has in abundance.
A further positive pointer is that her best and joint-third best Topspeed figures have been achieved in her two previous King George victories.
