Connections hope improving Platitude can defy penalty

Connections of Platitude are hoping for further improvement after he notched his first win since scoring on his debut when landing the Listed March Stakes at Goodwood last month.
Following two efforts at Group 3 level, the Sir Michael Stoute-trained gelding relished the step up to a mile and six furlongs at Goodwood as he drew five lengths clear of his rivals after sitting off the pace.
However, he carries a 3lb penalty for that success and faces several useful fillies in receipt of a 5lb weight allowance.
