Conditions set to improve with warmer weather forecast for day two at Goodwood
Goodwood is likely to feel a little more glorious on Wednesday, with the high winds and dank weather that were a focal point on day one rescinding for the remainder of the week.
While only 2.2mm of rain hit the track on Tuesday, wind gusts reached 35mph, although some forecasts had warned of far worse.
"We were very lucky with the rain," said clerk of the course Ed Arkell after racing on Tuesday. "We ended the day on good ground and I think it will stay like that for tomorrow.
"The wind is forecast to drop away tonight. We might catch another shower this evening – with another millimetre or two but the risk considerably decreases as the night goes on, with sunny spells and warmer weather for tomorrow."
Galway are likely to water before their fixture on Wednesday prior to the feature of the seven-day extravaganza, the tote.com Galway Plate.
"It’s more than likely that we’ll be watering either tonight or first thing in the morning," said clerk of the course Lorcan Wyer on Tuesday.
"It’s going to be dry up to and including Friday. There could be a change on Saturday but it’s certainly calm, settled weather up to and including Friday."
