Colonial ambitions for pioneering Henderson with Days Of Heaven

Nicky Henderson will be focused on the efforts of stable stars such as My Tent Or Yours and Vaniteux today but he also has an interest across the Atlantic, where Days Of Heaven is set to run in Camden, South Carolina.

It is Days Of Heaven's second appearance in the States after he placed fifth of eight in the American Grand National, which, unusually, is actually a 2m5f hurdle race. The currently-injured Nico de Boinville rode in the Grand National but Irish-born and locally-based rider Kieran Norris takes the ride in South Carolina.

Six-year-old Days Of Heaven won the Grade 2 Dovecote in the 2014-15 season but struggled to build on that last campaign, only adding a single novice chase win to his tally before reverting, unsuccessfully, to hurdles.

Ruby Walsh won the US Grand National on the locally-trained Rawnaq, who reopposes Days Of Heaven in today's 2m6f contest, the $150,000 Colonial Cup. Rawnaq is undefeated in three starts in 2016, having also won the Iroquois Hurdle, making him eligible for a $500,000 bonus should he also win next year's World Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival, and is regarded as the US's leading jumps horse.

Pour Moi sparkles on return

The Ralph Beckett-trained Diamonds Pour Moi made her first start since being pulled up in the Oaks a winning one with a comfortable two-length victory over Andre Fabre's Jollify in a Listed race at Saint-Cloud yesterday. Sent off at 12-1 for the Oaks, she returned 225-10 in France.
