Chapple-Hyam hoping Arod can do an Ajdal

Arod would not be the first classy horse to drop back in trip and win this. Ajdal ran in the 2,000 Guineas and Irish version as well as the Derby before triumphing in 1987.

Trained by Peter Chapple-Hyam, Arod also ran in the Epsom Classic, finishing fourth behind Australia two years ago.

"We did have him in the Summer Mile at Ascot but we’re trying to do an Ajdal with him by dropping him back to six furlongs,” said Chapple-Hyam. “He goes there a fresh horse and should have the gears if the rain stays away.”
