Descaro has been in training at the Worcestershire yard of Giles Smyly only long enough to run once for him, but today the ten-year-old will have his 100th start.

The grey has been in seven different stables during his career, run 57 times on the Flat and 42 times over jumps, accumulating a record of seven wins and 30 seconds and thirds.

But it is three years since his last victory, in a Uttoxeter selling hurdle, and he contests today's Brummies Conditional Jockeys' Handicap Hurdle off a mark that has slipped to 92, having been 120 at its peak.
