When Frankel was racing, every time he lined up ratings watchers sat poised. Ever since his Guineas, it had been assumed he had a scale-breaking performance in him. Would today be the day he gave it? It is the closest thing that comes to mind when thinking of the draw of Battaash.

Sure, his self-destructive tendencies added an air of intrigue, but what we all wanted to see was him going so fast that it seemed as if he would disappear, DeLorean-style, in a trail of burning hoofprints. He got close in last year's Nunthorpe, but the very best conditions are probably in the King George Qatar Stakes.
