Byron seeks first course win at seventh attempt for in-form Rogers
7.15 Bellewstown
Drogheda Traders Plate Handicap | 1m4f, 3yo+ | ATR
Harry Rogers has sent out three winners from his last seven runners, including a double at Roscommon on Monday night, and Byron Beauty is out to continue the hot streak of the popular trainer.
Bellewstown is a unique track that takes a bit of knowing but Byron Beauty will be making her seventh appearance here and, with form figures reading 764332, she is edging ever closer to a first success at the course.
Chris Hayes has been on board for her two most recent wins at Ballinrobe and Killarney and the pair will renew acquaintances for a ninth time in this €25,000 handicap.
John Oxx won this race 12 months ago with Xebec and he relies on the filly Magen's Moon in his attempt to win back-to-back runnings.
Political Policy is an all-weather specialist with eight of his nine career wins coming on the sand. The flipside of that is he finds himself rated 14lb lower on grass and he could be a major player if transferring his ability from all-weather to turf.
What they say
Denise Foster, trainer of Miles To Memphis
Every race he's ever run we've been thrilled with him and he has given me and the owner lots of enjoyment. He has a nice draw here and the ground should suit. The track could be a bit tight for him as he likes the Curragh and Leopardstown, but he handled Killarney okay so I'm hoping he'll be fine.
Harry Rogers, trainer of Byron Beauty
She disappointed us at the Curragh but lost her hind legs coming out of the stalls and lost her action so Chris [Hayes] looked after her. She will like the ground and we know she likes Bellewstown so she should give a good account of herself.
Ado McGuinness, trainer of Pivot Bridge
He wasn't right so we gave him a break. He always runs well fresh so fingers crossed he'll do so again. He worked very well last week and he likes Bellewstown.
John Oxx, trainer of Magen's Moon
She's very consistent and has been knocking on the door all season. She should be very happy on the ground so hopefully she'll run another solid race and pick up some prize-money.
Gavin Cromwell, trainer of Political Policy
He seems in great form. He ran very well at Dundalk over a mile and a quarter but just wanted further. We wouldn't want much more rain but he's off a stone lower on grass compared to his all-weather mark so we were keen to have a crack at this.
