Beware The Bear out of Scottish National as ground dries out
Beware The Bear, who was a general 11-1 chance for Saturday's Coral Scottish Grand National, has been withdrawn from the race due to the ground.
The going at Ayr is currently described as good and the track is forecast a dry and sunny afternoon.
Trainer Nicky Henderson tweeted on Saturday morning: "Beware The Bear is a non-runner in today’s Scottish Grand National owing to the ground. I’ve just walked the course and it’s pretty quick out there."
The nine-year-old was well fancied in the market having won back-to-back races at Cheltenham, including the Ultima at the festival. He is the only non-runner in the race.
Money has continued to come for Crosshue Boy, who is now as short as 7-1 and is a joint-favourite with Vintage Clouds for the Scottish National. He was a general 11-1 shot last night.
