The King George VI Chase is one of the greatest races in the calendar, associated with the sport's very biggest names. Desert Orchid and Kauto Star, the most transcendent jumps horses of the last few generations, are most famously associated with what they did at Kempton on Boxing Day.

This year's renewal is billed as a standout clash, even set against that backdrop. It is strange to note, with that considered, that the seemingly dominant pair have between them won only 11 of their 28 races in Britain.

Both Cyrname and Losintranslation are relatively new on the scene. The former has become the highest-rated chaser in Britain courtesy of three awesome front-running wins over 2m5f at Ascot. Lostintranslation has similarly only been unlocked lately. In his case, it has been stepping up to three miles that has done the trick.
