Dick Whittington has a further opportunity to make up for lost time in this €120,000 feature, having missed most of last season through injury before resuming winning ways on his most recent start last month, when landing the Group 3 Ballycorus Stakes at Leopardstown.
The son of Rip Van Winkle, who won the Group 1 Phoenix Stakes at the Curragh as a two-year-old, was having his fourth run of the campaign when he won at Leopardstown and speaking yesterday trainer Aidan O'Brien said: "It was a long road back for Dick Whittington but he was getting there gradually with each run before winning nicely at Leopardstown.
