Ballinrobe course guide: tactics and ground plus Danny Mullins' view
The only racecourse in County Mayo, Ballinrobe is one of the provincial gems that graces the summer season. It is an immensely popular and well-supported venue, as evidenced by the spread of sponsors – both local and big business – on Tuesday's eight-race card.
Racing has taken place at Ballinrobe for more than a century, and the track is renowned for the carnival atmosphere it creates for devoted local fans during a season that runs from April to September and features ten fixtures.
As is the case with many of the smaller courses, it is a quirky, tight track that wouldn't suit every horse, although one who did operate around there was dual Grand National winner Tiger Roll. He secured his first win over fences at Ballinrobe in 2016 before going on to establish himself as a Cheltenham and Aintree legend.
