Exciting prospect Envoi Allen features on a strong card at Navan

The Irish action in particular is of interest on this cold winter Sunday, with the Grade 2 Navan Novice Hurdle (12.30) a race which merits plenty of respect with a view to the future.

The three previous winners Next Destination, Death Duty and Bellshill have each progressed into genuine Grade 1 operators – and this year the pick of Gordon Elliott's trio would appear to be Defi Bleu while Ruby Walsh sides with Easy Game for Willie Mullins.

The concluding race on the Navan card is the "Future Champions" Flat Race (3.10), a Listed contest which Elliott has won for the last three years courtesy of Rapid Escape, Samcro and Death Duty.

The master of Cullentra House supplies the short-priced favourite again this time. Envoi Allen carried a big reputation in the point-to-point sphere and enhanced that on his debut for the yard at Fairyhouse at the beginning of the month.
