Those who enjoy 1980s drama re-runs on a midweek afternoon have had to put up with occasional interruptions from Cheltenham, Newmarket and the like since ITV took over the racing contract.
But this is uncharted territory. Many fans of Michael Praed and Glynis Barber may not be able to point to Clonmel on a map, or be aware that Taunton even had a racecourse.
