All eyes on Kachy as speedster bids to go one better than last year in Sprint

Blink and you will probably miss Kachy, who has breezed to success in two starts since a wind operation this winter and rates a hot-favourite in the Sprint Final for Tom Dascombe and Richard Kingscote.

A Group 3 winner on the turf, his form on the all-weather this winter has been sizzling, first running out a wide-margin winner in course-record time at Wolverhampton in December, before lowering the track record from the front over Friday's course and distance in February.

Despite a wide draw last time, he pinged the gates and was able to get to the inside rail long before his rivals, from where his blistering speed had his opponents chasing shadows.

He again has stall eight to overcome and it is worth remembering he was a beaten favourite when second in this race 12 months ago, but there has been an air of invincibility about the six-year-old this time around and trainer Tom Dascombe is quite rightly confident of settling last year's score.

"Since having a wind operation he's broken two track records so you'd have to say it's significantly helped him," said Dascombe.

"Because he's finding breathing easier perhaps he's more willing. He's stopped hanging, he's stopped drifting and he's going forward more effectively. Fingers crossed he goes one better than last year."

Forza Capitano is out to give France back-to-back wins following City Light's win 12 months ago, when Kachy was uncharacteristically slow from the stalls. A repeat, especially from his wide draw, would certainly make life difficult.

"Generally speaking he's sharp from the stalls," said Dascombe. "He's odds-on favourite in the right race. All he has to do is jump out and get into his rhythm – hopefully he's the best horse in the race and shows it."

Kachy will be hard to beat, but you can't be afraid of one runner. Our horse is smart out of the gates, he travels, stays well and seems to relax a bit better these days. He's very smart around a bend on the all-weather and Lingfield has been the plan since Dundalk. I think the track could suit him well.

He's in great order. Musselburgh didn't really suit last time but his form around Lingfield is fantastic and I think James Doyle will suit the horse.
