Why is it interesting?

This race provides Harvest Bow with a chance of gaining compensation after she was cruelly denied in the dying strides at Thurles on Thursday.

The Noel Meade-trained three-year-old's front-running tactics nearly bore fruit under Colin Keane – who takes the ride again – and she is a filly who stays and operates well on soft ground.

The daughter of Intikhab was reported to be none the worse for that narrow defeat by Meade, who is hoping the quick turnaround pays dividends before the handicapper has his say.

Pasley, trained by Joseph O'Brien, was one not missed by the handicapper following his last start. The three-year-old was raised 6lb after finishing second at this course last month on his first run back from a 152-day break and a gelding operation.

Despite the rise, Pasley, who is tackling a mile and six furlongs for the first time, rates as one of the least-exposed runners in what looks a wide-open contest.

What do the stats say?

Noel Meade's runners have been something of a revelation on the Flat in 2019. The trainer has recorded 21 Flat winners already this year, more than he has registered in the previous five seasons combined.

What the trainers say

Ross O'Sullivan, trainer of Universal Focus
Billy [Lee, jockey] gets on great with him. He has a lovely light weight on his back too. The ground shouldn't be a problem – it's similar ground to what he won on at Down Royal – and it looks a wide-open, competitive race. We're hoping for a good run.

Noel Meade, trainer of Harvest Bow
She ran a hell of a race at Thurles during the week. Hopefully it didn't take too much out of her. I didn't ask the handicapper if he was going to put her up for that but I felt he was going to give her a hike so that's why we're running her. She goes on soft ground and seems to be okay since Thurles. We'll keep our fingers crossed.

John McConnell, trainer of Liars Corner
He's turned into a very consistent horse. He ran well the other day at Thurles, which was a very funny race, and the false start didn't help us at all. If he can get up on the pace and race prominently we'd expect him to run well. He'll handle the ground and he'll stay the trip.

Tipster verdict

The interesting one is Pasley, who finished on the front foot when second over the extended 1m1f here on his handicap debut and it's very easy to envisage him coming on again over this extra yardage. Harvest Bow was unlucky not hold on at Thurles four days ago and if none the worse for those exertions she looks the danger.
