Al Mourtajex puts world's best rating on the line at Goodwood

Stellar field for first leg of Doha Triple Crown

Al Mourtajex, the highest-rated Arabian racehorse in the world after his win in the Qatar Arabian World Cup last year, faces 11 rivals in the Qatar International Stakes at Goodwood today.

The £200,000-to-the-winner contest is the first leg of the Doha Triple Crown, which was inaugurated last year and carries a $1 million bonus for a triple crown winner – the Chantilly leg is in October and the final race is in Doha in February.

Owned by Al Shaqab and trained by Thomas Fourcy in France, Al Mourtajex faces a strong challenge in the mile race – the seventh contest on Goodwood's eight-race card – headed by last year's Goodwood one-two Sir Bani Yas and Prade T.
