Cougar Mountain has been something of a frustrating horse. Despite an official rating of 115 he has just three wins to his name from 18 starts. Yet in last month's Joel Stakes he looked to have turned over a new leaf when romping to victory.

Aidan O'Brien's five-year-old returns to Newmarket in an attempt to prove that the penny has dropped. He faces stiff competition from the consistent Jallota and So Beloved, the improving Certificate, Opal Tiara and Acclaim, the occasionally brilliant Richard Pankhurst, Gifted Master and Lumiere, and the returning to the track Tasleet.
