1.35 Fairyhouse: the one race you can't afford to miss on Tuesday
1.35 FairyhouseI.N.H. Stallion Owners EBF Novice Hurdle | 4yo+| 2m4½f | RTV
Why is it interesting?
Annamix, a lightly raced six-year-old, was an early season favourite for the last two runnings of the Supeme Novices' Hurdle at Cheltenham but never made it to the festival on either occasion.
This race will be only the fourth of his career and, while he ran second at Vichy three years ago when trained by Guillaume Macaire, training problems meant he did not make his debut for Willie Mullins until last year's Limerick Christmas meeting.
He got off the mark when scoring over two miles at Clonmel in March and is due to go novice chasing in the coming weeks.
Annamix's five rivals include Camden Village, the mount of Davy Russell, Definite Plan, both trained by Gordon Elliott, and the Noel Meade-trained Battle Of Midway who won over two miles three furlongs at Galway last month before finishing second over three miles at Cork 12 days later.
Completing the line-up are Paul Nolan's hurdle debutant Fortune Street, an easy bumper winner at Wexford last month, and Rule Of June, who was placed in two point-to-points in recent weeks.
What do the stats say?
Willie Mullins has had ten winners in recent days, with four-timers at Clonmel on Thursday and at Punchestown on Saturday and a winner at Cork and Punchestown on Sunday.
Battle Of Midway is the highest-rated horse on Racing Post Ratings (128), followed by Annamix and Definite Plan.
What do connections say?
Willie Mullins, trainer of Annamix
He's ready to start back and the ground and the trip should be fine for him. The plan is to go chasing with him in the near future, but he's eligible for novice hurdles until early next month.
Noel Meade, trainer of Battle Of Midway
He's in good form and the more testing the ground is the better he'll like it. Eoin Walsh is claiming 7lb off him.
Gordon Elliott, trainer of Camden Village and Definite Plan
Both of them are in good order. Definite Plan won easily at Downpatrick last month while Camden Village hasn't run since winning over three miles at Cork's Easter meeting. However, the ground will be more testing than either of them has experienced so far, so we'll have to see how they cope with it.
