Awtaad's victory in the Tattersalls Irish 2,000 Guineas earned 84-year-old Kevin Prendergast the Leading Training Performance of 2016 at the Tipperary Crystal Curragh Racing Awards held in Kildare Village on Wednesday night.

Eight monthly winners were put forward for the award but Prendergast, who was nominated for May, was a deserving victor having sent out Awtaad to beat English 2,000 Guineas scorer Galileo Gold in fine style, 40 years after winning the race with Northern Treasure.

Shane Foley picked up the Riding Performance of 2016 award for his fine front-running steer on Jet Setting who bravely fought off the mighty Minding in the Tattersalls 1,000 Guineas.
