Popular Fairyhouse manager Norman Colfer dies aged 91

The funeral mass for Norman Colfer, former manager of Fairyhouse racecourse who died on Tuesday aged 91, will take place at 11am on Thursday at the Church of the Holy Trinity in Ratoath, County Meath followed by cremation in Glasnevin Crematorium at 2pm.

Colfer, an auctioneer by profession, became manager of Fairyhouse in 1968 and held the position for 20 years. It was during his period at Fairyhouse that the Irish Grand National was sponsored for the first time, by Irish Distillers, in 1970.

He died peacefully in Kilbrew Demesne Nursing Home in County Meath. He was pre-deceased by his first wife, Vera, and is survived by his second wife, Ann, sons Mark and Paul, stepson Christopher and stepdaughter Sara.

Donations, if desired, will go to the Injured Jockeys Fund c/o Michael Ryan Undertakers, Ashbourne, Co Meath.

Les Hurley funeral place and date

The funeral of well known Midlands racing photographer Les Hurley will be held at Rowley Regis Crematorium, Powke Lane, Rowley Regis, Nr Cradley Heath, West Midlands B65 0AD on Monday December 9th at 1.45pm.

Family flowers only but anyone wishing to make any donations please send them to the Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital charity.
