The foundations of Sandown's grandstand may need to be reinforced before Saturday's Betfair Tingle Creek Chase when the much-loved Un De Sceaux will bid to become the oldest horse to land the prestigious Grade 1 contest.

The popular 11-year-old will be seeking the 24th success of a remarkable career at Sandown and an 11th at the highest level, with the O'Connell family – the passionate connections behind the star chaser – dusting off their sky blue and orange scarves ahead of another Tingle Creek showdown.

Trained by Willie Mullins, Un De Sceaux claimed the spoils at Sandown in 2016 and was just edged out by Altior in a thriller 12 months ago.
