It seems England rugby coach Eddie Jones is fully anglicised after three years in charge, so much so that when he used a racing analogy to describe his team's preparations for next year's World Cup, it was Royal Ascot and not Royal Randwick he alluded to.

Speaking on Sportsweek on Radio 5 Live on Sunday, a day after England had beaten his native Australia at Twickenham, Jones said how he was happy his team were coming to the boil at the right time.

Jones said: "It's like the Ascot Gold Cup – you're no use being in front at the top of the straight, you've got to be in front at the end of it when you go past the winning post.
