Poet's Word will take in his third Group 1 assignment in Hong Kong next month after being invited for two feature events on Longines Hong Kong International Raceceday at Sha Tin on December 10.

Sir Michael's Stoute's lightly campaigned four-year-old finished seven lengths second behind Cracksman when last seen in the Group 1 QIPCO Champion Stakes at Ascot last month.

Although he never looked likely to win, Poet's Word had some smart sorts including Highland Reel and Barney Roy in arrears. The son of Poet's Voice previously finished runner up to Decorated Knight over the same trip of a mile and a quarter in the Group 1 Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown.

Bruce Raymond, racing manager to Poet's Word owner Saeed Suhail, said: "Poet's Word has been invited for both the Hong Kong Cup, over a mile and a quarter, and the Hong Kong Vase over the mile and a half and we'll know nearer the time which he'll be going for.

"Sir Michael is preparing him for the meeting and he's worked nicely on the Cambridge Road Polytrack of late. He's a relatively fresh horse having had only three starts since May and we're looking forward to it."

Stoute, who has never won the Hong Kong Cup, did win the Vase in 2000 with Daliapour.
