Plunge on Arkle hero Douvan for Saturday highlight

WILLIE MULLINS' unbeaten chaser Douvan has been cut dramatically for Saturday's Betfair Tingle Creek at Sandown, with last season's Racing Post Arkle winner a best-priced 4-6 favourite (from 3).

The majority of firms make him an odds-on shot, but Mullins has not confirmed the Grade 1 will be Douvan's starting point this season. He told the Racing Post on Tuesday morning: "He is fine. We have not made a decision yet."

Sponsors Betfair, who have taken evasive action by going a shortest- price 4-7, reported a flood of money for the superstar chaser. Spokesman Barry Orr said: "The two-mile chasing division appears to be at the mercy of Douvan and the market suggests the Willie Mullins-trained horse is primed for a bold show.
