Plumpton has unveiled a new £50,000 feature race on Easter Monday, a Totesport-sponsored Champion Chase.

The two-day meeting starts with the other £50,000 feature – the Totepool Sussex Champion Hurdle on Easter Sunday, April 1 – with the new Sussex Champion Chase not run over the conventional two miles.

The bank holiday feature will be run over two miles three furlongs and 164 yards and both days offer total prize-money of over £100,000.

Chris Gordon, who has saddled six winners at the track this season, is aiming his County Hurdle runner-up Remiluc at one of the two big Plumpton prizes but is keeping his powder dry.

The trainer said: “He’s bounced out of Cheltenham well and we will keep our options open.

“The Sussex Champion Chase, which is a 0-145, could be quite interesting as he's off 127. If it came up soft we would probably look at the hurdle but if it's not so bad we would probably go for the chase."

The family weekend with kids entertainment on the infield has tickets for £10 in the picnic enclosure and £14 in the grandstand when booked in advance.
