Plucky Dip has been nicknamed "Lucky Dip" at John Ryan's Newmarket yard after giving two apprentices their first wins in the space of just eight days.

First up, the seven-year-old provided Cieren Fallon, 19-year-old son of six-time British champion jockey Kieren, with a breakthrough win at just his third attempt in an apprentice contest at Leicester on September 24.

Then at Catterick on Monday, Ryan's 17-year-old apprentice Laura Pearson followed suit on just her second ride in public, successfully taking on professional jockeys in a 7f handicap.
