Miss Fairfax
Third, Hereford, Monday
This mares' bumper was run at a stronger pace than is often the case and there were some notable performances by the first three home, not least this debutante for Hughie Morrison, who looked green at various stages of the race and did much of her running on the inside of the track, which was quite churned up.
Out of an unraced half-sister to high-class chasers Carlingford Lough, Thetotherone and Thisthatandtother, she has clearly inherited plenty of ability and finished off strongly to be beaten just a short-head for second behind the vastly more experienced and solid yardstick, Jaunty Freyja. Tango Theatre
Fourth, Fairyhouse, Tuesday
The biggest notebook horse of the week was the John McConnell-trained mare, who finished fourth under tender handling to Light Brigade in a maiden hurdle over 2m at Fairyhouse.
This 3m point winner was down in trip but she stepped up considerably on what she had achieved on her rules debut under her inexperienced rider.
Unfortunately for connections, the stewards took a dim view at the subsequent running-and-riding inquiry, handing out a 60-day ban for the horse, a 21-day ban for the jockey and a €3,000 fine for the trainer.
While she will have to improve a fair bit to win a similar event when her ban expires, there is little doubt she is capable of a good deal better still, especially when she returns to further trips and is switched to handicaps. [Richard Young]

Majestic Tejaan
Second, Newcastle, Friday
A muddling gallop was against the Richard Fahey-trained filly so she deserves plenty of credit for getting as close as she did to the in-form Oo De Lally back on Tapeta on her handicap debut over 7f at Newcastle.
This course-and-distance debut winner, who bombed out on Fibresand on her previous start, did not look ideally placed once the tempo increased but she kept on willingly in the closing stages to get within a neck of the winner.
There will be plenty of easier opportunities for one of her rating than this 0-95 event and she is well worth looking out for, especially when it looks as though a better gallop is on the cards.
She'll have no problems with a mile judged on her pedigree and it will be a bit of a surprise if she is not able to add to that debut victory in the coming weeks. [Richard Young]

Kestenna
Second, Lingfield, Saturday
It is unlikely it was the strongest novice that Kestenna made her debut at Lingfield last weekend but she was a huge eyecatcher under Kieran O'Neill and should be capable of leaving the form well behind on her next start.
The John Gosden-trained representative was easy to back beforehand, drifting to 5-2 from 13-8, and soon showed why as she missed the break and ran green in the rear.
However, the penny appeared to drop for her in the home straight and she made stealthy progress on the often unfavoured inside to beat all bar the 6-4 market leader.
The effort was all the more encouraging given the steady early pace and she could be quite useful. [Marcus Buckland]
