Pinatubo leapfrogged fellow Godolphin juvenile Earthlight in the Cartier Two-Year-Old Colt standings after maintaining his unbeaten record in Saturday's Group 1 Darley Dewhurst Stakes.

The Shamardal colt, who has six wins from six starts and was registering a second Group 1 success at Newmarket, having also taken the National Stakes at the Curragh, now holds an eight-point advantage over his French-trained rival.

Sitting on 80 points, Pinatubo would become the first Godolphin-owned horse to win the prize since Dawn Approach in 2012 if holding on to his advantage.

Magical remains top of the Horse of the Year standings and could extend her advantage on Qipco British Champions Day.

The Aidan O'Brien-trained filly has amassed a score of 168 points this season, winning the Tattersalls Gold Cup and Irish Champion Stakes, while also finishing second in three other Group 1 contests.

She leads Enable (152), but the points total only makes up 30 per cent of the overall competition. The remaining factor is split between scores from a panel of judges, and votes from Racing Post and Telegraph readers and ITV Racing viewers.

Stradivarius (128) is another who could boost his chances for the prize, with John Gosden's superstar stayer set to feature in the Long Distance Cup at the showpiece Ascot meeting. Other contenders include Arc winner Waldgeist (120), while Crystal Ocean, Hermosa and Too Darn Hot all sit on 112 points.

Advertise (80) could put in a significant bid to win the Sprint category when he features in the opener at Ascot this weekend. Martyn Meade's three-year-old currently shares second spot with Battaash but trails dual-Royal Ascot winner Blue Point (106).

Bet365 Fillies' Mile winner Quadrilateral earned 32 points following Friday's win in the Two-Year-Old Filly competition, but the Mark Johnston-trained Raffle Prize (64) currently leads.

The awards, established in 1991, will be presented in London on the evening of Tuesday, November 12.
