Newmarket trainer Phil McEntee, whose daughter Grace left the riding ranks for the United States last week, has launched a scathing attack on British prize-money, labelling it "embarrassing" and "a joke".

McEntee enjoyed a strong end to 2022 and sent out his tenth winner in December when Bobby On The Beat won at Lingfield on Saturday, but believes the bigger picture is bleak.

Prize-money was cited as one of the main reasons his daughter and fellow jockey Tyler Heard have chosen to relocate to Turfway Park, with British levels poor in comparison.
